Whipporwill left behind one document, a cassette, more as a means to get gigs than to win over new fans, though it couldn't help but do the latter once the thing was put out into the ether.

The four songs on the cassette were "Whisper" and "Joseph Beuys" (penned by Will Eastman) and "O! Valiant Hipster" and "Return to Earth" (penned by Matty Schindler).

Tom Herbers took this picture of the band on the rooftop of the warehouse that held Third Ear Studios. Whippoorwill was among the first bands to record at Third Ear, which at that time boasted an 8-track, 1 inch tape recording machine. Many of the books that adorned the shelves at Third Ear were "donated" by Will Eastman, who had a gig working in a second hand bookshop at the time.

We are still trying to find some actual audio of this release.

There is something charming about its inability to be heard, no?

This cassette was recorded in a single day, and that was May 7, 1994.
